The requirement for all Australian Government agencies is that they ensure the information and services are provided in a non-discriminatory accessible manner. The aim is to make government based websites easy to use and accessible.
The MECS website has been developed in accordance with the current Australian government standard of Level A of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.0. In doing this, our aim has been to make this site accessible and easy for you to use. This includes:
· designing pages so that they can easily be read by screen readers
· inserting a 'skip to content' link at the top of the page, which allows screen readers to skip navigational elements and go straight to the text
· providing text equivalents ('alt tags') for images
· providing transcripts or captions for video files.
MECS can be accessed by the main Internet browsers which include Internet Explorer and Firefox. We recommend that Internet Explorer users use Version 9 or higher. Although lower IE versions will allow access to MECS, some reduced performance of the MECS website may be encountered as these early browser versions are not compatible with current web standards or 3rd Party software used within the website.
